Stevia is a natural and healthy substitute of
sugar and all artificial sweeteners. Used mainly as a sweetener, a
medical and cosmetic antiseptic, and as a spice. In cosmetic industry it
is used as a component of face masks. Has a therapeutic effect on acne,
skin eruptions and ulcers. Disinfects skin, absorbs sebum, closes
pores, speeds wound healing up. Disinfecting and bactericidal properties
of Stevia are useful in production of toothpaste. Leaves of the plant
contain also vitamin C, beta-carotene, calcium, magnesium, iron and
other micro-elements. Due to its regulatory effect on the pancreas,
Stevia is also used for maintenance of a normal digestion and appetite.
Scientific research indicate a favourable effect of Stevia in
hypertension and diabetes.
Dried and cut Stevia
leaves are used as a sweetener for therapeutic drinks and tea in Asia
and South America. For nearly 20 years the Stevia leaf extract is used
as a safe, natural and non-caloric sweetener in Japan. Stevioside
contained in Stevia leaves is 30-300-times sweeter than white sugar and
has proven therapeutic properties: reduces blood pressure and prevents
caries.
Stevia cut leaves, 10-15-times sweeter
than sugar. Non-caloric, reduce blood pressure and blood sugar level,
prevents caries and helps combating obesity. Stevia is an ideal solution
for those who want to be slim, and healthy, but who do not want to quit
on sweet coffee and tea.
Instruction of use:
Stevia leaves need to be crushed (or milled in a coffee grinder or food processor) and are ready to be used as a sweetener.
1/5 of a teaspoonful of dried leaves per a cup of tea is enough.
It may be used for all kinds of processed food, as well as marinades, as it has no tendency for fermentation.
Dried leaves may be stored for several years. Dried leaves with hot water make a sweet syrup.
Preparation instructions:
25 g of dried Stevia leaves
300 ml of water
Pour
boiling water to Stevia leaves and boil for approx. 10 minutes. Leave
for half an hour, and then filter. May be stored in a fridge for several
weeks.
Stevia leaves may be blended with tea leaves, both to sweet them and supplement their nutritional value.
